.: SayIT :.
SayIT was originally developed for use by a patient with Motor
Neurone Disease (MND / ALS) and the product’s early development was very
much driven by the loss of co-ordination and movement which worsened as
the condition progressed in this family member.
The product has four components:-
- A scanner to assist users who have poor speech or lack the
fine-motor skills to use a keyboard or mouse.
- An orator that generates words and phrases to be synthesised or
sent to computer applications.
- A special mouse to use computer programs such as word processors
and email.
- A speech synthesiser.
The product can also interface with other switches such as foot
pedals or sip/pull devices. It also has an inbuilt learning capacity and
word prediction facility: it automatically adds words and phrases as
they are generated, and automatically suggests those most frequently
used, thereby dramatically increasing communication speed.
The software will run on any notebook computer or desktop PC that
uses the Windows 98 or later Operating System. This includes Windows 98,
2000, ME and XP. It is designed to use relevant underlying Windows
Operating System disability functionality, including double key press,
and mouse speed.
